Melt the Cheese
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the cream cheese and stir until smooth.

Combine Ingredients
Slowly whisk in the milk until well combined. Gradually add the sharp cheddar cheese, continuing to stir until the cheese is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

Season the Dip
Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Remove from heat and serve warm with buttered and salted Bavarian soft pretzels.
