Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Base

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper, sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  2. 2

    Add Tomatoes and Spices

Pour in the canned diced tomatoes, and add the ground cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes until slightly thickened.

  3. 3

    Add Eggs

Make small wells in the tomato mixture and crack the eggs into each well. Cover the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the eggs are cooked to your liking.

  4. 4

    Add Toppings

Once the eggs are cooked, sprinkle crumbled feta cheese, chopped fresh herbs, and za'atar seasoning over the top.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the shakshuka directly from the skillet, with crusty bread on the side for dipping.
