Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

Kneading and Rising

  1. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.

  2. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Assembling Focaccia

  1. 5

    Prepare Baking Pan

Grease a baking pan with olive oil. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 6

    Shape the Dough

After the dough has risen, punch it down and stretch it out into the baking pan, creating dimples with your fingers.

  3. 7

    Add Toppings

Drizzle olive oil over the top, sprinkle with sea salt, and add fresh rosemary.

Baking

  1. 8

    Second Rise

Cover the dough again and let it rise for another 20-30 minutes.

  2. 9

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Cooling and Serving

  1. 10

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm.
