Method
Cocktail
- 1
Chill glass
If desired, place the highball or large wine glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes before assembling to keep the spritz colder longer.
- 2
Add ice
Fill the chilled glass about 3/4 full with cubed ice (approximately 1 cup).
- 3
Measure and add bitters
Using a jigger, pour 1 oz of Spritz Italia (or your chosen bitter aperitif) over the ice.
- 4
Add fresh orange juice
Measure and pour 1 oz of fresh orange juice into the glass on top of the bitters.
- 5
- 6
Optional: Add Prosecco
If you prefer a more traditional spritz with extra fizz and alcohol, add 1 oz of chilled Prosecco now and give the drink one gentle stir.
- 7
Stir gently
Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture gently 6–8 times to combine the Spritz Italia, orange juice, and Spindrift without flattening the bubbles.
- 8
Garnish and serve
Garnish with a fresh blood orange wheel on the rim or floated on top. Serve immediately while cold and effervescent.

Use the jigger to measure the Spritz Italia, orange juice, and optional Prosecco precisely. Use a citrus juicer to extract fresh orange juice (about the juice of 1 small orange yields ~1 oz). Keep tools clean and chilled if possible for best results.
