Garnish & Finish
Cocktail
1. Build the base
Chill a tall chilled Collins or highball glass. Add ice (large cube or 1 cup cubed) to the glass, leaving room at the top for beer.
2. Mix spirits and sweeteners
In a mixing glass or shaker filled with a few ice cubes, combine 1.5 fl oz citrus vodka, 0.5 fl oz grenadine, 0.5 fl oz fresh lime juice, 0.25 fl oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters. Give a brisk 8–10 second shake to chill and integrate the ingredients. (No need to double-strain.)
3. Layer and top with beer
Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass over the ice. Slowly tilt the glass and pour 12 fl oz chilled Miller High Life down the side to preserve some carbonation and form a layered look. The grenadine will sink slightly to create a 'grenade' burst of color at the bottom.
Garnish & Serve
4. Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and drop in a maraschino cherry. Optionally express a lime peel over the top to add aromatic oils. Serve immediately with a straw or long bar spoon for gentle stirring; encourage the drinker to stir once or twice to marry flavors before drinking.
