Pizza Dough and Toppings
Method
Preparation and Baking
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy. In a larger bowl, mix the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until the dough starts to come together.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 3
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat as well.
- 4
Shape the Pizza
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into your desired shape and thickness. Transfer it to a pizza peel or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 5
Add Toppings
Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top, followed by the pepperoni slices.
- 6
Bake the Pizza
Carefully place the pizza in the preheated oven (or on the pizza stone). Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
- 7
Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve hot.
