Pizza Dough and Toppings
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add flour, olive oil, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Form into a ball and place in a greased bowl, covering it with a cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 3
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
- 4
Shape the Pizza
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a pizza peel or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 5
Add Sauce and Toppings
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the pizza base. Tear the mozzarella cheese into pieces and distribute over the sauce. Add fresh basil leaves on top.
- 6
Bake the Pizza
Slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 7
Finish and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, drizzle with olive oil, and let it cool for a couple of minutes before slicing. Serve hot.
