Fried Chicken Ingredients
Method
Fried Chicken Preparation
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Add chicken breasts, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In another bowl, mix together flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. This will be used for coating the chicken.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or deep fryer, pour in vegetable oil and heat to 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat the Chicken
Remove chicken from buttermilk marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour, pressing to adhere, and shake off any excess flour.
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place coated chicken breasts into the hot oil. Fry for about 6-8 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- 6
Drain and Serve
Once cooked, transfer fried chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your choice of dressing.
