Calzone Ingredients
Method
Calzone Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Filling
In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the wild mushrooms and sauté until they are soft, about 5 minutes. Add the fresh spinach and cook until wilted, about 2 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- 2
Assemble the Calzone
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large circle. On one half of the circle, layer the sautéed mushroom and spinach mixture, black olives, and mozzarella (or vegan cheese if substituting). Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal tightly.
- 3
Bake the Calzone
Transfer the calzone to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make a few slits on top to allow steam to escape. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- 4
Serve
Allow the calzone to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
