Method
Preparation Instructions
- 1
Soak Chickpeas
Soak the dried chickpeas in water overnight (or for at least 8 hours) until they are softened.
- 2
Blend Ingredients
In a food processor, combine the soaked chickpeas, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Blend until a coarse mixture forms.
- 3
Form the Balls
If the mixture is too wet, add flour to help bind it. Form small balls or patties (about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter) with the mixture.
- 4
Heat Oil
In a deep pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry Falafel
Carefully drop the falafel balls into the hot oil, frying in batches. Fry for 4-5 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Serve the falafel warm with tahini sauce on the side.
