Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Prepare hibiscus concentrate (if you don't have ready-made)

Make a quick agua de jamaica: steep 1/3 cup dried hibiscus flowers in 2 cups just-boiled water for 10 minutes, strain, add 2–3 tablespoons sugar or agave to taste while warm, chill. Use 1.5 oz of this concentrate per drink. (If using store-bought concentrate or syrup, skip this step.)

2

Rim glass (optional)

If desired, rub a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass and dip into salt or tajín to coat. Set the glass aside.

3

Mix the cocktail

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Vida Mezcal, 1 oz Cointreau, 1.5 oz hibiscus concentrate, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 1 oz fresh orange juice, and 0.5 oz agave syrup if you prefer a slightly sweeter drink. Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup).

4

Shake

Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the shaker is cold and the ingredients are well combined and slightly diluted.

5

Strain and serve

Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice (or serve neat in a chilled coupe).

Garnish & Finish

6

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and an optional orange twist. Float a dried or fresh hibiscus flower on top for a striking presentation. Serve immediately.

7

Taste and adjust: if the cocktail tastes too tart, stir in an additional 1/4 oz agave syrup; if too sweet, add a splash (0.25 oz) more lime juice for balance.
