Cocktail
Method
Prepare & Build
Salt the rim
Run a lime wedge around the outer rim of a chilled rocks glass (or coupe if preferred). Pour the coarse salt onto a small plate and gently roll the moistened rim in the salt until evenly coated. Set the glass aside.
Combine and shake
In a cocktail shaker add 3–4 large ice cubes, 2 oz Avión Silver tequila, 0.75 oz dry orange curaçao, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz agave nectar. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted.
Strain
Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared salt-rimmed rocks glass over 1–2 large ice cubes (or a single large ice cube) to keep dilution controlled and presentation clean.
Float Grand Marnier
Using the back of a bar spoon, gently pour 0.25 oz Grand Marnier over the top of the drink so it floats as a glossy orange layer. Pour slowly and close to the surface to maintain separation.
Garnish & serve
Express a lime wheel or wedge over the drink to release oils, then drop or place it on the rim. Serve immediately with a short stirring straw so the guest can incorporate the Grand Marnier float if desired.
