Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Trim the Green Beans

Wash the fresh green beans thoroughly under cold water. Using a sharp knife, trim the ends of each green bean by cutting off about 1/4 inch from both ends.

  2. 2

    Prepare Steamer

Fill a pot with about 1 inch of water and place a steamer basket inside, ensuring that the water does not touch the bottom of the basket. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Steam the Green Beans

Once the water is boiling, carefully add the trimmed green beans to the steamer basket. Cover the pot with a lid and steam the green beans for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are bright green and tender-crisp.

  2. 4

    Prepare Butter Mixture

While the green beans are steaming, melt the unsalted butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Once melted, add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and lemon juice. Stir until well combined and heated through.

Serving

  1. 5

    Combine and Serve

Once the green beans are done steaming, carefully remove them from the pot. Transfer the beans to a serving dish and drizzle the butter mixture over the top. Toss gently to coat the beans in the butter. Serve immediately.
