Sausage & Peppers
Method
Cooking the Sausage & Peppers
- 1
Brown the Sausages
In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the mild Italian sausages and brown them on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the sausages from the skillet and set aside.
- 2
Sauté the Vegetables
In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Add the sliced red and yellow bell peppers and the sliced onion. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
- 3
Add Garlic and Tomatoes
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant. Then, add the crushed tomatoes, white wine, salt, black pepper, and dried oregano. Stir to combine.
- 4
Simmer the Mixture
Return the browned sausages to the skillet. Bring the mixture to a simmer and reduce the heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
