Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Make Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Topping Preparation

  1. 5

    Cook Sausage

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the fennel sausage until browned and cooked through. Break it into small pieces as it cooks.

  2. 6

    Prepare Vegetables

While the sausage is cooking, slice the fresh mushrooms and set them aside.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) while the dough is rising.

  2. 8

    Shape Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a pizza shape on a floured surface.

  3. 9

    Add Sauce and Toppings

Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the cooked sausage, sliced mushrooms, and fresh mozzarella cheese on top. Finish with dried oregano and black pepper.

  4. 10

    Bake Pizza

Transfer the pizza to a baking sheet or pizza stone and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
