Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough begins to form.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.

  2. 6

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release air. Transfer it to a floured surface and roll it out into your desired pizza shape.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce and Cheese

Transfer the shaped dough to a pizza peel or baking sheet. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the surface, leaving a border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.

  4. 8

    Add Pepperoni and Oregano

Arrange the pepperoni slices evenly on top of the cheese and sprinkle oregano over the entire pizza.

  5. 9

    Bake the Pizza

Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the pizza stone) and bake for about 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.

  6. 10

    Slice and Serve

Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice into wedges and serve hot.
