Method
Preparing the Beef
- 1
Season the Beef
In a small bowl, mix together the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Rub this spice mixture all over the beef chuck roast.
- 2
Sear the Beef
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, sear the beef roast on all sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side. This helps to lock in the flavors.
- 3
Slow Cook the Beef
Place the seared beef in a slow cooker. Pour the beef broth over the roast. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the beef is tender and easily shredded.
Assembling the Sandwiches
- 4
Shred the Beef
Once the beef is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks. Return the shredded beef to the juices in the slow cooker to soak up the flavor.
- 5
Prepare the Rolls
Slice the Turano French rolls in half. Optionally, toast them lightly in the oven for added texture.
- 6
Build the Sandwich
Place a generous portion of the shredded beef onto the bottom half of each roll. Top with sweet peppers or giardiniera, according to your preference. Replace the top half of the roll.
