Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the Russet potatoes and cut them into quarters. This helps them cook evenly and faster.

  2. 2

    Boil the Potatoes

Place the quartered potatoes in a large pot and fill it with enough water to cover the potatoes. Add 1 tsp of salt to the water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook until the potatoes are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  3. 3

    Mince the Garlic

While the potatoes are boiling, peel and mince the garlic cloves. You can adjust the amount based on your taste preference.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Garlic Butter

In a small pan, melt 4 tbsp of butter over low heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to let it brown.

  5. 5

    Drain the Potatoes

Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them in a colander and return them to the pot.

  6. 6

    Mash the Potatoes

Using a potato masher or a ricer, mash the potatoes until smooth. Avoid over-mashing to keep them fluffy.

  7. 7

    Combine Ingredients

Pour the garlic butter mixture and the heavy cream into the mashed potatoes. Season with additional salt and black pepper to taste. Mix until well combined and creamy.

  8. 8

    Garnish and Serve

If desired, sprinkle chopped chives on top of the mashed potatoes for garnish. Serve hot and enjoy!
