Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chicken

Begin by seasoning the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper on both sides.

  2. 2

    Dredge in Flour

In a shallow dish, place the all-purpose flour. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, ensuring both sides are well-coated. Shake off any excess flour.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté the Chicken

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the floured chicken breasts. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

  2. 4

    Make the Sauce

In the same skillet, add the lemon juice and chicken broth. Scrape any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Stir in the capers and bring the mixture to a simmer.

  3. 5

    Bake the Chicken

Return the sautéed chicken to the skillet. Spoon some of the sauce over the chicken. Transfer the skillet to a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.

Finishing Touches

  1. 6

    Add Cream and Basil

Once the chicken is done baking, remove the skillet from the oven. Stir in the heavy cream and fresh basil into the sauce, allowing it to simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.

  2. 7

    Serve

Plate the chicken and spoon the sauce over the top. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
