Soda Base

Method

Preparing the Soda Base

  1. 1

    Juicing the Fruits

In a citrus juicer, extract the juice from fresh blood oranges and lemons until you have 1 cup of each juice. Strain the juice through a fine mesh sieve to remove pulp and seeds.

  2. 2

    Mixing the Soda Base

In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed blood orange juice, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Stir well to combine.

  3. 3

    Adding Sparkling Water

Slowly pour in the sparkling water to the juice mixture. Stir gently to combine, being careful not to lose the carbonation.

Serving the Soda

  1. 4

    Preparing to Serve

Fill each glass with ice cubes, about halfway full.

  2. 5

    Pouring the Soda

Carefully pour the blood orange and lemon soda mixture over the ice in each glass, filling them about three-quarters full.

  3. 6

    Garnishing the Drink

Garnish each glass with a slice of blood orange, a slice of lemon, and a few fresh mint leaves for added flavor and presentation.
