1. Preparation
Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips to form the fries.
2. Soaking
Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
3. Drying
Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
4. Heating the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
5. Frying
Carefully add the dried potato strips to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
6. Draining and Seasoning
Remove the fries from the oil and drain on paper towels. While still hot, season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to taste.
7. Serving
Serve the crispy golden fries hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
