Method

Brewing Instructions

  1. 1

    Mashing

Begin by heating water in a brew kettle to around 165°F (74°C). Add the pale malt and crystal malt to the kettle, stirring well to avoid clumps. Maintain the temperature around 150°F (65°C) for 60 minutes to allow the sugars to extract.

  2. 2

    Boiling

After mashing, bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, add the Cascade hops and boil for 60 minutes. In the last 15 minutes of boiling, add the Centennial hops.

  3. 3

    Cooling

After the boil, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath until it's around 70°F (21°C).

  4. 4

    Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel and pitch the yeast. Seal the vessel and allow it to ferment for about 1-2 weeks at room temperature.

  5. 5

    Bottling

Once fermentation is complete, dissolve the priming sugar in a small amount of boiling water and add it to the beer. Then, bottle the beer, seal, and let it carbonate for another 1-2 weeks.

  6. 6

    Enjoy

Chill the bottles and enjoy your homemade Lagunitas Ale!
