Brewing Instructions

  1. 1

    Mash the Grains

In a large brew kettle, heat 10 cups of water to 160°F (71°C). Add the pale malt and wheat malt, and maintain the temperature at 150°F (65°C) for 60 minutes.

  2. 2

    Boil the Wort

After 60 minutes, bring the mash to a boil. Add the Hallertau hops and boil for 60 minutes.

  3. 3

    Cool the Wort

After the boil, cool the wort rapidly using a wort chiller or an ice bath until it reaches 70°F (21°C).

  4. 4

    Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel. Pitch the Wyeast Weihenstephan 3068 yeast into the wort. Seal the vessel with an airlock and let it ferment for about 1-2 weeks at a temperature of 68-72°F (20-22°C).

  5. 5

    Bottling

Once fermentation is complete, dissolve the priming sugar in a small amount of water and add it to the fermented beer. Bottle the beer and cap it. Let it carbonate for an additional week.

  6. 6

    Enjoy

Chill the bottles and pour the Uinta Golden Spike Hefeweizen into a glass. Enjoy your homemade brew!
