Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Rice
Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- 2
Cook the Rice
Drain the soaked rice and steam it in a bamboo or metal steamer lined with cheesecloth for about 30 minutes, or until tender.
- 3
Prepare Coconut Sauce
In a saucepan, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, but do not let it boil.
- 4
Combine Rice and Sauce
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and pour about two-thirds of the coconut sauce over the rice. Mix well and let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the flavor.
- 5
Prepare Mango
While the rice is resting, peel and slice the ripe mangoes.
- 6
Serve
To serve, place a portion of sticky rice on a plate, top with mango slices, and drizzle the remaining coconut sauce over the top. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or mung beans for garnish.
