Fried Mozzarella Sticks

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese

Freeze the mozzarella sticks for about 30 minutes to firm them up, which helps prevent them from melting too quickly while frying.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate shallow dishes, place the flour in the first dish, beat the eggs in the second dish, and mix the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in the third dish.

  3. 3

    Coat the Cheese Sticks

Take a frozen mozzarella stick, dip it in the flour, ensuring it's coated evenly. Then dip it into the beaten eggs, followed by the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Repeat for all mozzarella sticks.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of bread in; if it sizzles, the oil is ready.

  5. 5

    Fry the Mozzarella Sticks

Carefully add the breaded mozzarella sticks to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Do not overcrowd the pan.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried mozzarella sticks with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
