Bread and Eggs

Method

Prepare the French Toast Mixture

  1. 1

    Whisk the Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until well combined.

Cook the French Toast

  1. 2

    Heat a Pan

Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter.

  2. 3

    Dip the Bread

Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated well.

  3. 4

    Cook the Bread

Place the coated bread slices in the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Add more butter as needed while cooking.

Prepare the Fillings

  1. 5

    Cook the Eggs

In a separate pan, add a small amount of butter and crack the eggs into the pan. Cook until the whites are set and the yolks are cooked to your desired doneness (over hard).

  2. 6

    Warm the Ham

In the same pan or a separate one, lightly warm the ham slices until heated through.

Assemble the Sandwich

  1. 7

    Layer the Ingredients

On one slice of French toast, layer a slice of ham, a slice of cheese (if using), and the cooked egg. Top with another slice of French toast.

  2. 8

    Serve

Cut the sandwich in half and serve warm with maple syrup or your choice of condiment.
