Potato Preparation
Signature Seasoning
Method
Preparing the Potatoes
- 1
Wash and Cut Potatoes
Wash the Russet potatoes thoroughly under running water. Peel them if desired, then cut them into thin strips (about 1/4 inch thick) to form fries.
- 2
Soak the Potatoes
Place the cut fries into a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and contributes to crispiness.
- 3
Drain and Dry
After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with paper towels to remove as much moisture as possible.
Frying the Fries
- 4
Heat Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a kitchen thermometer to ensure the oil reaches the right temperature.
- 5
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the dried fries to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain the Fries
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt to taste immediately.
Preparing the Signature Seasoning
- 7
Mix Seasoning
In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and dried parsley. Mix well to ensure an even distribution of spices.
Final Assembly
- 8
Season the Fries
Once the fries have drained, toss them in the bowl with the signature seasoning to coat evenly. Adjust seasoning to taste if necessary.
- 9
Serve
Serve the Crackin’ Fries hot as a delicious snack or side dish. Enjoy!
