Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) to ensure it's hot enough for baking the biscuits.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Whisk them together until well blended.

  3. 3

    Prepare Butter

Cut 0.5 cups of unsalted butter into small pieces and add it to the dry mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Mixing

  1. 4

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, measure 0.75 cups of milk and add it to the dry mixture. Stir gently until just combined; do not overmix.

Shaping and Baking

  1. 5

    Shape the Dough

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out biscuits, pressing straight down without twisting.

  2. 6

    Bake

Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.

  3. 7

    Cool and Serve

Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack. Serve warm with butter or your favorite jam.
