Duck Preparation

Orange Glaze

Method

Duck Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Duck

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Clean the duck thoroughly under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Season the duck inside and out with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Sear the Duck

In a large oven-safe skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Place the duck breast side down and sear for about 5-7 minutes until the skin is golden brown. Flip the duck and sear the other side for another 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Roast the Duck

Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and roast the duck for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

Orange Glaze

  1. 4

    Make the Glaze

While the duck is roasting, combine fresh orange juice, orange zest, honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

  2. 5

    Glaze the Duck

During the last 15 minutes of roasting, brush the orange glaze over the duck every 5 minutes to create a beautiful, sticky coating.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve the Duck

Once the duck is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes. Carve the duck in half and serve on a platter. Garnish with chopped parsley and orange slices.
