Method

Preparing the Rice

  1. 1

    Rinse the Rice

Rinse 1 cup of white rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Cook the Rice

In a pot, combine the rinsed rice, 2 cups of water, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil.

  3. 3

    Simmer

Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for about 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.

  4. 4

    Fluff the Rice

Remove from heat, let it sit covered for 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork.

Cooking the Shrimp

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat.

  2. 6

    Sauté Garlic and Ginger

Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  3. 7

    Add Shrimp

Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the skillet. Season with 1 teaspoon of red chili flakes, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper.

  4. 8

    Cook Shrimp

Cook the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink and are cooked through.

  5. 9

    Make the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix together 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of honey, and 1 tablespoon of lime juice.

  6. 10

    Combine

Pour the sauce over the cooked shrimp and stir to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
