Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Flank Steak

Slice the flank steak thinly against the grain into bite-sized strips. This helps to tenderize the meat.

  2. 2

    Coat the Steak with Cornstarch

Place the sliced flank steak in a bowl and sprinkle with cornstarch. Toss to coat evenly. This will give the beef a crispy texture when cooked.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.

  4. 4

    Cook the Beef

Add the coated flank steak to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until browned, then flip and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove the steak and set aside.

  5. 5

    Sauté Aromatics

In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  6. 6

    Add Spices and Sauce

Stir in the red chili flakes, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Mix well and let it simmer for about 2 minutes.

  7. 7

    Combine Everything

Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Stir well to coat the steak in the sauce and heat through for another 2 minutes.

  8. 8

Finish with Green Onions and Sesame Oil

Add the chopped green onions and drizzle with sesame oil. Stir to combine, then remove from heat.

  9. 9

    Serve

Serve the Mongolian beef hot over steamed rice or noodles, garnished with additional green onions if desired.
