Beef and Broccoli
White Rice
Method
Beef and Broccoli
- 1
Prepare the Beef
Slice the beef sirloin against the grain into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 2
Marinate the Beef
In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, black pepper, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 20 minutes.
- 3
Cook the Beef
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
- 4
Cook the Broccoli
In the same skillet, add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp.
- 5
Combine and Finish
Return the beef to the skillet with the broccoli. Drizzle with sesame oil and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes until everything is heated through.
White Rice
- 6
Rinse the Rice
Rinse the white rice under cold water in a fine mesh strainer until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- 7
Cook the Rice
In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 18-20 minutes until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
