1. Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease an 8-inch round cake pan.

2. Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a double boiler or a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

3. Mix in Sugar and Eggs

Stir the granulated sugar into the melted chocolate mixture until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.

4. Add Cocoa Powder and Salt

Sift in the cocoa powder and add a pinch of salt. Mix until just combined.

5. Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cake has set but is still slightly soft in the center.

6. Cool and Serve

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, carefully invert it onto a serving plate. Serve with whipped cream on top.
