Mojito Ingredients

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Muddle the Mint

In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, place the fresh mint leaves. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press down on the mint leaves. This releases their essential oils and aroma. Be careful not to shred the leaves too much; a gentle press is sufficient.

  2. 2

Add Lime Juice and Simple Syrup

Pour the freshly squeezed lime juice and simple syrup into the glass over the muddled mint. The simple syrup adds sweetness, balancing the tartness of the lime juice.

  3. 3

    Add White Rum

Measure out 2 oz of white rum and add it to the mixture. This is the base spirit of your Mojito and will bring the cocktail together.

  4. 4

    Mix the Ingredients

Using a spoon or a cocktail stirrer, gently mix the ingredients together to combine the flavors. Be careful not to break apart the mint leaves too much.

  5. 5

    Add Ice

Fill the glass with ice cubes, preferably crushed ice for a refreshing drink. This will chill the cocktail and dilute it slightly as the ice melts.

  6. 6

    Top with Club Soda

Pour 4 oz of club soda over the ice-filled glass. This adds a refreshing fizz to the cocktail.

  7. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish your Mojito with a lime wedge and a sprig of mint. Serve with a straw and enjoy your refreshing cocktail!
