Filet Mignon
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Preparation
Remove the filet mignon from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. Pat the meat dry with paper towels.
- 2
Seasoning
Generously season both sides of the filet mignon with salt and black pepper.
- 3
- 4
Flipping and Basting
Flip the filet mignon and add butter, garlic cloves, and rosemary to the skillet. Cook for another 4-5 minutes, basting the meat with the melted butter.
- 5
Checking Doneness
Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, aim for 130-135°F (54-57°C).
- 6
Resting
Remove the filet from the skillet and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices.
