Sushi Ingredients

Method

Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare Sushi Rice

Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to the package instructions. Once cooked, transfer to a bowl and let it cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Season the Rice

In a small bowl, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Pour this mixture over the warm rice and gently fold it in with a spatula. Allow the rice to cool to room temperature.

  3. 3

    Prepare Fillings

Thinly slice the cucumber, carrot, and avocado. If using fresh fish, ensure it is sliced into long strips.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Sushi Rolls

Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat, shiny side down. Wet your hands to prevent sticking and take a handful of sushi rice. Spread the rice evenly over the nori, leaving a small border at the top. Lay your chosen fillings in a line across the center of the rice.

  5. 5

    Roll the Sushi

Using the bamboo mat, carefully roll the sushi away from you, applying gentle pressure to form a tight roll. Seal the edge of the nori with a little water.

  6. 6

    Slice and Serve

Use a sharp knife to slice the roll into bite-sized pieces. Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side.
