Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) to ensure that the prime rib will sear properly.

  2. 2

    Prepare the roast

Take the 10 oz prime rib roast out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.

Seasoning

  1. 3

    Season the meat

Rub the prime rib with olive oil, then generously season all sides with kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, and thyme.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Roast the prime rib

Place the seasoned prime rib on a roasting pan and put it in the preheated oven. Roast for 15 minutes at 450°F (232°C), then reduce the temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue cooking for about 20-25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (130°F for medium-rare).

  2. 5

    Rest the meat

Once cooked, remove the prime rib from the oven and cover it loosely with foil. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing to allow the juices to redistribute.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve

Slice the prime rib and serve with your choice of sides, such as mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
