Cake Batter
For Greasing
Method
Preparing the Cake
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- 2
Prepare Ramekins
Grease four ramekins with 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter and dust with cocoa powder to prevent sticking. Set aside.
- 3
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 170 grams of semi-sweet chocolate and 115 grams of unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
- 4
Mix the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together 100 grams of granulated sugar, 2 large eggs, and 2 egg yolks until well combined. Stir in the melted chocolate and butter mixture. Add 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract, 50 grams of all-purpose flour, and a pinch of salt. Mix until just combined.
- 5
Fill the Ramekins
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.
- 6
Bake
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake for 12-14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
Serving
- 7
Cool and Serve
Remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate to release the cake. Serve immediately, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.
