Combine Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well blended.

Form Meatballs
Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter.

Bake Meatballs
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through.

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Simmer the sauce for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Sandwich Assembly

Assemble the Sandwich
Slice the submarine rolls in half lengthwise. Place 3-4 meatballs in each roll, spoon marinara sauce over the meatballs, and top with provolone cheese.

Melt Cheese
Place the assembled sandwiches under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the provolone cheese is melted and bubbly.

Add fresh basil leaves to each sandwich, if desired, and serve immediately.
