Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all the ingredients, ensuring the pastrami is thinly sliced and the cheese is ready to be melted.

  2. 2

    Slice the Bread

Take the marble rye bread and lay out 2 slices for the sandwich. Set aside the other 2 slices.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Butter the Bread

Spread 1 tablespoon of butter on one side of each of the 2 slices of marble rye bread.

  2. 4

    Assemble the Sandwich

On the unbuttered side of one slice of bread, layer the pastrami, followed by the pepper jack cheese. Add the dill pickle slices on top.

  3. 5

    Top the Sandwich

Place the other slice of bread on top, buttered side facing out.

  4. 6

    Grill the Sandwich

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Once hot, place the sandwich in the skillet. Grill for about 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown and the cheese starts to melt.

  5. 7

    Flip and Grill

Carefully flip the sandwich and grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes, until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.

Serving

  1. 8

    Slice and Serve

Remove the sandwich from the skillet, let it sit for a minute, then slice it in half. Serve warm with extra mustard on the side if desired.
