Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt.

  2. 2

    Cook Spaghetti

Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Making the Bolognese Sauce

  1. 3

    Sauté Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 chopped onion, 1 chopped carrot, and 1 chopped celery stalk. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.

  2. 4

    Add Garlic

Add 2 minced garlic cloves to the skillet and cook for another minute until fragrant.

  3. 5

    Brown the Meat

Increase the heat to medium-high and add 500g of ground beef. Cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

  4. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Stir in 400g of canned tomatoes, 2 tablespoons of tomato paste, and 250ml of beef broth. Add 1 teaspoon each of dried oregano and dried basil, and season with 1 teaspoon of salt, 0.5 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Mix well.

  5. 7

    Simmer Sauce

Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Let it cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.

Serving

  1. 8

    Combine and Serve

Serve the spaghetti topped with the Bolognese sauce and garnish with grated Parmesan cheese (50g). Enjoy!
