Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Make Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead Dough
Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Knot Formation and Baking
- 5
Shape Knots
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into small pieces (about 12-15). Roll each piece into a rope about 6-8 inches long and tie into a knot.
- 6
Prepare Baking Sheet
Place the knots on a greased baking sheet, leaving space between each knot. Let them rise for another 20-30 minutes.
- 7
Bake Knots
Bake the knots in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Garlic Butter Preparation
- 8
Melt Garlic Butter
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add minced garlic, chopped parsley, dried oregano, and salt to taste. Stir and cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
