Cooking the Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.

Cook Fettuccine
Add the fettuccine pasta to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, reserve about 1 cup of the pasta water and then drain the pasta in a colander.
Making the Alfredo Sauce

Melt Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.

Add Heavy Cream
Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Incorporate Cheese
Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy. If it’s too thick, add a bit of the reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency.

Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
