Chicken Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Season the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper on both sides.
- 2
Breading Process
Set up a breading station: in one shallow dish, place the flour; in a second dish, beat the eggs; and in a third dish, combine the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese. Dip each chicken breast first in the flour, shaking off excess, then in the eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
- 3
Sear the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat about 1/4 cup of oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the breaded chicken breasts and cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Transfer the chicken to a baking dish.
Topping
- 4
Add Sauce and Cheese
Pour marinara sauce evenly over the chicken breasts in the baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce.
- 5
Bake
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C) and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 6
Garnish and Serve
If desired, garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving. Serve hot with pasta or a side salad.
