Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil Lasagna Noodles

In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Meat Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Cook Ground Beef and Vegetables

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

  2. 3

    Add Vegetables and Sauce Ingredients

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 20 minutes.

Cheese Mixture Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix Cheese Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, and chopped parsley. Mix until well combined.

Assembling Lasagne

  1. 5

    Layer Ingredients

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture over the noodles. Add a layer of meat sauce, then sprinkle with 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers two more times, finishing with a layer of meat sauce and the remaining mozzarella cheese on top.

Baking

  1. 6

    Bake the Lasagna

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
