Marinara Sauce

Method

Preparation of Marinara Sauce

  1. 1

    Sauté Garlic

In a large saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 2

    Add Tomatoes

Stir in the canned diced tomatoes and tomato sauce. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Season the Sauce

Add dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the sauce. Stir to combine, then reduce heat and let simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assembling the Lasagna

  1. 4

    Cook Noodles

Boil lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside on a clean kitchen towel.

  2. 5

    Prepare Cheese Mixture

In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, and spinach. Mix until well combined.

  3. 6

    Layering

In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom. Place 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of marinara sauce, and then a layer of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layering process ending with noodles on top, marinara sauce, and remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

  1. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 8

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.

  3. 9

    Uncover and Finish Baking

  4. 10
