Salad Base
Caesar Dressing
Method
Preparation of Salad Base
- 1
Wash and Chop Lettuce
Rinse the romaine lettuce under cold water to remove any dirt. Shake off excess water and chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces. Place it in a large salad bowl.
- 2
Add Croutons
Sprinkle the croutons over the chopped romaine lettuce in the salad bowl.
Making Caesar Dressing
- 3
Prepare Dressing Ingredients
Mince the garlic cloves and anchovy fillets. In a mixing bowl, combine the minced garlic, anchovy fillets, egg yolk, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce.
- 4
Whisk in Olive Oil
While whisking continuously, slowly drizzle in the olive oil until emulsified and smooth. This should create a creamy dressing.
- 5
Add Cheese and Season
Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and season the dressing with salt and black pepper to taste.
Combine and Serve
- 6
Dress the Salad
Pour the Caesar dressing over the romaine lettuce and croutons. Toss gently to combine, ensuring all the lettuce is well coated with the dressing.
- 7
Serve Immediately
Serve the Caesar salad immediately on individual plates, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese if desired.
