Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare Manicotti

Cook the manicotti shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water. Set aside to cool.

Cheese Filling Preparation

  1. 2

    Make Cheese Filling

In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, chopped parsley, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare Marinara Sauce

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Add crushed tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 4

    Stuff Manicotti

Using a piping bag or a spoon, carefully fill each manicotti shell with the cheese filling. Place the stuffed shells in a baking dish.

  2. 5

    Add Marinara Sauce

Pour half of the marinara sauce over the stuffed manicotti. Cover with aluminum foil.

  3. 6

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the manicotti covered for 25 minutes.

  4. 7

    Add Toppings

Remove the foil, top with remaining marinara sauce, shredded mozzarella, and grated Parmesan. Return to the oven and bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  5. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from oven, let cool for a few minutes, garnish with fresh basil, and serve warm.
