Method

Preparing the Sirloin

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Sprinkle the top sirloin steak with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika on both sides. Let it sit at room temperature for 20 minutes to absorb the flavors.

  2. 2

    Heat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a little oil to the pan.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Place the seasoned steak on the hot grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer for accuracy (130°F for medium-rare).

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices.

Making the Fries

  1. 5

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips (about 1/4 inch thick) to resemble fries.

  2. 6

    Soak the Fries

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This will help them become crispier when fried.

  3. 7

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Make sure there is enough oil to fully submerge the fries.

  4. 8

    Fry the Potatoes

Drain the soaked fries and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel. Carefully add them to the hot oil in batches. Fry for 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

  5. 9

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt and toss to coat evenly.
