Method
Preparation Steps
- 1
Cook the Beef
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- 2
Add Seasoning
Stir in the salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning into the cooked beef. Mix well and remove from heat.
- 3
Prepare Cheese Mixture
In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- 4
Cook Lasagna Noodles
In a large pot, boil water and cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Assembly and Baking
- 5
Layer Ingredients
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom. Place a layer of cooked noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture on top, followed by half of the beef mixture, and a third of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, finishing with a final layer of noodles topped with marinara sauce and the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- 6
Bake the Lasagna
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- 7
Let it Rest
Once baked, remove from the oven and let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. This will help the layers set.
